Our Beliefs
At Parkway, we practice an open book policy with our doctrine - we have nothing to hide. It's our duty and joy to share with you the essential doctrines that are foundational to all that we believe and do.
We believe in the plenary, verbal inspiration of the Old and New Testament Scriptures in the original autographs and that these writings being inerrant are supreme and final in all matters of doctrine and life.
We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in Jesus Christ’s deity and humanity, His conception by the Holy Spirit. His virgin birth. His bodily resurrection and His personal, visible return with power and great glory.
We believe that man being created by a direct act of God was a righteous, free, moral being; that he sinned and thereby incurred the penalty of physical and spiritual death not only for himself, but also for the entire human race, with the result that we are all sinful by nature.
We believe that Jesus Christ, by His substitutionary death on the cross, made salvation possible for all who will receive Him as their only Savior; that these, who are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, will never perish; and that it is utterly impossible for anyone to be saved except by Jesus Christ.
We believe that the universal, invisible church is composed of all believers; that the local visible church is a congregation of baptized believers in a particular locality associated for worship, fellowship, service and the observance of the ordinances; that this local church is independent and that the only authority over it is that of Christ and the Word of God.
We believe that every Christian should be baptized (immersed) in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This outward act is symbolic of the inward work of regeneration and that only the baptism of a regenerated individual is real.
We believe in the observance of the Lord’s Supper as the symbol of continual spiritual fellowship with our Savior; that it is for believers only, and that by doing this we remember His death until He comes.
We believe in the final triumph of the church and righteousness at the glorious appearing of Christ, in the resurrection of the dead, and in the eternal blessedness of the saved and eternal, conscious suffering of the unsaved.
(This very brief statement of faith is intended to be only a summary of the beliefs of our church and it is to be clearly understood that the complete doctrinal position of the church is set forth only in the entire Word of God.)
